The new Ofsted framework and North South School Partnerships

North South partnerships have the potential to:

enrich the curriculum
develop pupils’ social and cultural awareness
contribute to the pupils’ personal achievement
make connections to the wider community

Schools can:

demonstrate the impact of these links through their self-evaluation consultations, and in this way celebrate the global partnership within the new Ofsted framework
use the North - South Partnership to demonstrate their provision for aspects of Every Child Matters, particularly enjoying & achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being

And celebrate the link by:

researching and evaluating the effect of global school partnerships, for example, surveys or discussions with pupils and their parents about the advantages of a global dimension in the curriculum
including the outcomes in the schools' self-evaluation form (SEF) to show the impact of these links and provide the evidence to support the assertions being made

North - South School Partnerships
support and advice for schools in the Yorkshire and Humber region

North South School Partnerships is an initiative of the Yorkshire & Humber Global Schools Association (YHGSA) supporting schools to develop active partnerships with schools in the South (Developing World) through its North-South School Partnerships Service.

The North-South Linking Service offers the following support:

1 An Local Authorities linking programme, which includes training and small grants for schools

2 Advice & guidance on how & where to link
The service offers practical advice to schools on starting or developing a link, where to link, what the pitfalls are.

3 Contacts
The service maintains a database of schools and clusters in the region which have, or have had links with schools in the south. If you have a link, please let us know about it.
