Promoting a Global
Dimension in Education for Schools
in the Yorkshire and Humber Region
The aim of the CPD programme is to support teachers
and educators in providing the entitlement of all young people
in the region to global education.
The Association is working with other providers
of in service courses to ensure that teachers across the region
can access curriculum and key stage provision which will enhance
their understanding of content and pedagogy.
The courses will be offered through twilight, half
day and whole day sessions and will provide access to ideas and
resources which will enable teacher innovation and progression
in this field. The courses will be underpinned by the Core Concepts
for the Global Dimension as contained in the DfEE/DfID document
(2001).
To ensure that teacher needs are met partnerships
with LEAs are developing and a mapping exercise has identified
areas for future work.
Courses will be offered to ensure:
• Regional coverage geographically.
• Teacher needs are met.
• Continuity and progression through the Key Stages.
• Appropriate response to government initiatives.
