Yorkshire and Humber Global Schools
Association
Promoting a Global Dimension
in Education The Yorkshire and Humber
Global Schools Association owes its existence to a national initiative
of the Department for International Development (DFID). Through
the programme known as ‘Enabling Effective Support’
(EES) the department began for the first time in 2003 to fund
regional and country activities across the UK to support the global
dimension in education. For the Yorkshire and Humber region our
response was to set up the YHGSA.
The YHGSA is a membership organisation with
approximately 400 members. Individuals join because they have
an interest in global issues and in the challenges facing the
education system in embedding teaching about these issues in the
curriculum. Members welcome receiving information about the YHGSA’s
activities directly to their home or school address and are also
keen to help the Association by taking part in consultations and
surveys. Membership is free. The first stage is to ask for an
Application Pack and to return
the application form. Membership will begin officially following
the next meeting of the YHGSA Board and members will then receive
their membership number.
